Evidence for each topic was extracted into tables
and summarised in evidence statements. The GDG reviewed the evidence tables and
statements at each meeting and reached a group opinion. Recommendations were
explicitly linked to the evidence supporting them and graded according to the
level of the
evidence upon which they were based,
using the grading system detailed in Section 3. It should be noted that the level
of evidence determines the grade assigned to each recommendation and as such
does not necessarily reflect the importance attached to the recommendation.
