The objectives of the guidelines should be clearly defined and differentiated. In general, guidelines aim at health care improvement (quality of structure, processes and outcomes). Examples of such objectives include the improvement of the patient's health status, his satisfaction and quality of life; further, the assistance of physicians in managing specific diseases, the training support of professionals starting their job, the optimisation of care processes, the realisation of cost reduction potentials by avoiding "unnecessary services", the standardisation of high-level medical care by ensuring "necessary services", and maximum efficiency in budgeting. The answer YES presupposes the listing of at least some of the objectives.	Die Ziele der Leitlinien sollten klar definiert und differenziert werden. Allgemein zielen Leitlinien auf eine Verbesserung der gesundheitlichen Versorgung (Struktur-, Prozess-, Ergebnisqualität). Beispiele für solche Zielsetzungen sind die Verbesserung des gesundheitlichen Zustandes des Patienten, der Patientenzufriedenheit sowie der Lebensqualität; ferner die Unterstützung der Ärzte beim Umgang mit bestimmten Krankheiten, die Ausbildungshilfe für Berufsanfänger, die Optimierung von Versorgungsabläufen, die Realisierung von Einsparpotentialen durch Vermeidung "unnötiger Leistungen", die Standardisierung der Versorgung auf einem hohen Niveau durch die Sicherung "notwendiger Leistungen", die Erleichterung von Budgetberechnungen. Die Antwort JA setzt voraus, dass zumindest einige Zielsetzungen aufgelistet werden.

Tavoitteena on tuottaa näyttöön perustuvia, suomalaiseen terveydenhuoltoon soveltuvia hoitosuosituksia ja pitää niitä ajan tasalla. Suosituksia laaditaan aiheista, jotka ovat kansanterveydellisesti tärkeitä ja joissa hoitokäytäntöjen vaihtelu on suuri tai uutta tietoa tarvitaan kentällä. Hoitosuositus on asiantuntijoiden järjestelmällisesti laatima, tieteellisesti mahdollisimman hyvin perusteltu kannanotto, jota lääkäri ja potilas voivat käyttää hoitopäätöksen tukena. Hoitosuosituksia käytetään alueellisten hoitoketjujen pohjana.
NICE
The purpose of the scope is to: provide an overview of what the guideline will include and exclude identify the key aspects of care that must be included set the boundaries of the development work and provide a clear framework to enable work to stay within the priorities agreed by NICE and the NCC and the remit from the DH/Welsh Assembly Government inform the development of the clinical questions and search strategy inform professionals and the public about the expected content of the guideline keep the guideline to a reasonable size to ensure that its development can be carried out within an 18-month period. SIGN
The introduction to each SIGN guideline summarises its remit and gives a brief description of the target patient population and the intended users of the guideline.
