3. The patients to whom the guideline is meant to apply should be specifically described

The group of patients addressed in this guideline should be described precisely. The answer YES presupposes that e. g. age, sex, clinical symptoms, severity and stage of the disease as well as relevant comorbid conditions should be taken into consideration.	Die Patientengruppe, auf die sich die Leitlinie bezieht, sollte klar beschrieben werden. Die Antwort JA setzt voraus, dass z.B. das Alter, das Geschlecht, die klinische Symptomatik, der Schweregrad und das Stadium der Krankheit sowie relevante Begleiterkrankungen berücksichtigt werden.

Lähtökohtana on diagnostiikan, hoidon ja seurannan kattava hoitosuositus. Suppeammissa suosituksissa sisältörunkoa voidaan käyttää soveltuvin osin. Hoitosuosituksia tulee ajan mittaan olemaan mahdollisesti satoja. Siksi pyritään yhtenäiseen rakenteeseen, mikä helpottaa suositusten käyttöä. Suosituksen keskeinen sanoma (tärkeimmät seikat, joiden tulisi toteutua) Kohderyhmä (Potilaat, joiden kohdalla suositusta käytetään: ikärajat, hoitopaikat jne.)
NICE
The scope provides a framework within which to conduct the development work. Its content briefly describes the background epidemiology relevant to the disease or condition and defines the aspects of care that the guideline will cover in terms of: population to be included or excluded - for example, age groups or people with certain types of disease healthcare setting - for example, primary, secondary or tertiary care interventions and treatments to be included and excluded - for example, diagnostic tests, surgical, medical and psychological treatments and rehabilitation, lifestyle advice. SIGN
The intended patient population should also be explicitly defined. In most cases, this means that the disease state that the guideline is concerned with should also be clearly defined. Criteria such as age range, and severity of disease may also be included. This forms part of the definition of the key questions which the guideline will address (see item 2).
